Bolgatanga, April 2, GNA- Mr. Robert Nachinab Doameng Mosore, New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary aspirant in the Talensi Constituency on Thursday threatened to stand as an independent candidate in the December 7 polls, "if immediate action is not taken by the National Executive of the party to direct the constituency executive to conduct primaries". "I will advise myself to consider running as an independent candidate if the party ignores our plea for primaries and imposes anybody on us", he said.

Mr. Mosore who is an engineer at the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR), was speaking to the press to explain his position on what he described as "vigorous manipulations and lobbying" by his opponent, Mrs. Mariam Khaldi Adukoma, the candidate for the constituency in the 2000 election. He explained that the National Executive had okayed the request of those constituencies that have no sitting MPs to conduct their primaries including the Nabdam, Builsa North and South, Binduri and Paga-Chiana but failed to say anything about the Talensi constituency which is also falls under the same category.

Mr. Mosore accused Mrs Adukomah of manipulating the National Executives to declare the constituency as a no contest one, and wondered why after three times of contesting elections as a parliamentary candidate in that constituency his opponent is not popular with the people and is expressing the fear of losing to him. "I am very confident that when we go for the primaries I will win on a large margin because the people are desirous to see me as the next MP and more especially they would want a man from the NPP to contest the current MP for the area, Mr. John Tiah."

He pledged to rescind his decision to run as an independent candidate if the primaries are organized and he fails to win, adding that he would then support his opponent with resources to campaign to win the elections and bring victory to the party. Mr. Mosore dismissed speculations that he was an NDC faithful who had been planted to disintegrate the NPP in the forthcoming election, but admitted that although he supported the NDC some years back he no longer had connections with that Party, citing personal reasons.

He added that his family has long-standing relations with the Danquah-Busia tradition, which for so many years he had supported underground. He said when given the mandate his priority areas would be to promote education, facilitate rapid economic growth through the development of the area's tourism potential. He further pledged to work closely with whoever would be appointed DCE for the newly created Talensi-Nabdam district in order to bring more development to the people.
