Amb. Bishop Sam Owusu, Country Director of IAWPA Ghana, Amb. Sultan Adamu and Amb. Mercy Ante Agyepong joined the +233 Peace Walk "Let Love Lead Peace Campaign" from Accra Mall to El-Walk on the 5th October Stadium, drawing over 500 participants and a host of celebrities among are Keche, KOD, and Big Dawood, the convener of the event.
The event highlighted the urgent need for peace during Ghana's 2024 elections.
As a renowned advocate for peace, Amb. Bishop Sam Owusu has consistently promoted peaceful coexistence through various campaigns, including the Peace Power Campaign, Every Life Counts Campaign, Coalition Against Hate Speech Campaign, Peace and Tolerance Campaign, and Youth For Peace Campaign
These efforts aim to raise awareness about the importance of peace and tolerance in national development.
During the campaign, Amb. Bishop Sam Owusu emphasized the crucial role of stakeholders in ensuring a peaceful electoral process.
He urged all parties to engage in respectful and issue-based campaigning, avoiding hate speech and divisive rhetoric that could incite violence.
To achieve peaceful elections in Ghana, key stakeholders have proposed several recommendations, including:
- Media Professionalism: Ensuring responsible reporting and balanced coverage
- Safety of Journalists: Protecting media practitioners from harassment and intimidation
- Role of Media in Peaceful Elections: Promoting constructive dialogue and civic education
- He urged the youth to deceit from violence and engage in peaceful elections.
By prioritizing peace and constructive engagement, Ghanaians can work together towards a harmonious and democratic electoral process that will attract development to the country from 2025.
