On Thursday, December 18, 2025, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohonu, accompanied by members of the Police Management Board (POMAB), opened a two-day Regional Crime Officers’ Conference aimed at strengthening the investigative capacity of crime officers nationwide.
The conference, which seeks to highlight the critical role of Crime Officers in criminal investigations, brought together officers from all twenty-five (25) Police Regions, as well as Directors of selected units at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Headquarters.
In his address, the IGP underscored the vital role Crime Officers play in modern policing, particularly in the face of evolving and increasingly sophisticated crime trends.
He noted that contemporary criminal activities require advanced investigative techniques, high levels of professionalism, and continuous capacity building to ensure effective law enforcement.
The IGP reaffirmed his commitment to enhancing the investigative capabilities of the Ghana Police Service, stressing that improving investigative standards is key to staying ahead of criminal activities and restoring public confidence in the Service.
In her welcome address, the Director-General of the Criminal Investigation Department, COP Lydia Yaako Donkor, encouraged participants to actively engage in the conference deliberations.
She noted that the success of criminal prosecution largely depends on effective and thorough criminal investigations.
