The Northern regional Police commander DCOP Ken Yeboah has appealed to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) John Kudalor to initiate a process that will ensure the transfer of long serving Police personnel in the troubled areas of the Northern region.

According to him, the continuous stay of the personnel in the areas affects their output and eventually creates problems for their host communities.

The comments come as the various factions in the conflicts in the region are accusing the Police of bias.

Residents of Bunkprugu and Bimbilla have both called on the IGP to overhaul the security in their respective area.

Speaking at an event to welcome the IGP to the region, DCOP Yeboah noted that the urgent transfer of servicemen who have served for over three years in Bunkprugu and Bimbilla and other troubled spots would ensure effective policing in those areas.

The regional commander also revealed myriad of challenges facing the service in the region to the IGP and pleaded with him to address them.

The IGP is the region as part of preparations towards the upcoming November polls. The visit is also to assess the operational preparedness of the command ahead of the elections.
