Winneba(C/R), June 1, GNA - The International Labour Organisation (ILO) has approved a one billion-cedi grant for the rehabilitation of the 8-kilometre feeder road linking Oboadakawa and Manyenda, farming communities in the Awutu-Effutu-Senya District. The money would be channelled through the Ghana Decent Work Pilot Program (GDWPP), a subsidiary of the ILO operating in the Awutu-Effutu-Senya and Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam districts in the Central Region.

Mr Kwamina Amoasi Andoh, National Co-ordinator of the GDWPP speaking to the Ghana News Agency at Winneba on Tuesday said that as soon as the project was awarded on contract the money would be made available for work to start.

He said that members of the assembly's tender board were participating in a weeklong capacity-building workshop on contract management and monitoring currently under way at Winneba.

Mr Kwesi Esseku, Presiding Member of the Awutu-Effutu-Senya District Assembly mentioned Awutu-Topease near Awutu-Fianko, as the next community to benefit from the ILO road rehabilitation programme. He said the assembly would do everything possible to ensure the success of the Oboadakawa - Manyenda project to facilitate the release of funds for the Topease project.
