GSE Index slumps as bourse slows down

Accra, Sept. 3, GNA - The GSE-All Share Index, the benchmark index, slumped in trading on Friday as the bourse continued to slow down after big gains in the first half of the year.

The Index went down by 117.38 points to 7,202.63 points while change for the year slipped to 102.70 per cent from 106 per cent. Traded volumes closed higher at 798,300 shares from 248,600 during midweek trading.

On the broader market, there were seven price changes - five up and two down.

Fan Milk Limited (FML) was 1,100 cedis better at 11,000 cedis; Benso Oil Palm Plantation (BOPP) gained 200 cedis at 6,000 cedis; Mobil Oil Ghana Limited (MOGL) was up by 141 cedis at 37,000 cedis; Enterprise Insurance Company (EIC) gained 400 cedis at 6,000 cedis; CFAO appreciated by 10 cedis at 140 cedis. The two losers were Ghana Commercial Bank (GCB), which was down by 1,000 cedis at 15,000 cedis and Cocoa Products Company (CPC), which lost 200 cedis at 1,300 cedis. Market capitalisation stood lower at 97,655.99 billion cedis from 97,951.43 billion cedis.
