The Institute of Paralegal Training and Leadership Studies (IPLS), which is an institute, dedicated to the development and promotion of the practice of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) has graduated thirty (30) students of the 2017 Batch of the Executive Master in Alternative Dispute Resolution (EMADR) on 25 th November 2017.
Addressing the graduands, Her Worship Rtd. Johanna Yankson(Mrs) the Executive Director of IPLS and the Chairperson for the occasion described the practice of ADR as “ a virgin enterprise” in Ghana which requires professionally trained ADR Practitioners to create the awareness for ADR to play an important role in the judicial system of our country.
“ I have no doubt that this institute has prepared you adequately to function excellently as professional ADR Practitioners . Be guided by the ethics of your profession”, she told the graduands.
Mr Ben Arthur, a lecturer of IPLS and a Labour Consultant stated in his speech that one of the key objectives of ADR practice is to contribute to peace building. He encouraged the graduands to support the building of a peaceful society.
Mr Alex Nartey , the National ADR Coordinator for the Judicial Service and ADR Consultant in his address at the ceremony encouraged the graduating students to be active in the Ghana National Association of ADR Practitioners(GNAAP) in order to popularise ADR practice in Ghana.
He asked them to participate in the campaign for the full implementation of the ADR Law.
The President of the 2017 Batch of the Executive Master in ADR , Wing Commander Frederick Bawa who spoke on behalf of the 2017 EMADR Class , expressed gratitude to the management of IPLS for preparing them adequately for the task ahead as ADR Practitioners and expressed the preparedness of their batch to work with excellence to project the name of the institute.
On behalf of the 2017 EMADR Class, Wing Commander Frederick Bawa presented an electronic screen to the institute.
The Graduands included Senior Military Officers, Trade Unionists, the Clergy, Entrepreneurs, Chartered Accountants, Public Relations Officers, Church Agents, and Engineers among others
