The Mfantseman Municipal Chief Executive, Mr Henry Kweku Hayfron, has appealed to parents to ensure that the “Freedom and Justice” which is the motto of the nation is ingrained in the minds of their children.
“Parents, guardians and educational institutions across the country must take pains to inculcate the essence of this motto into all children and wards so that they grow up with the values that will safeguard the destiny of this great country of ours,” he said.
Mr Hayfron said this when he addressed a parade of school children and voluntary organisations at Mankessim to mark Ghana’s 55th Independence Anniversary.
The anniversary was celebrated on the theme: “Sustaining Peace and Democracy for National Unity and Development.”
He said the theme was appropriate for this period when the people were gearing up to go to the polls.
Mr Hayfron said it was expected of all Ghanaians to do all it takes to sustain the peace the nation was enjoying during and after the election.
“Let us agree to disagree, let us jaw jaw but not war war,” he said, pointing out that, “political parties would come and go, but Ghana would always be there for us and generations to come.”
He appealed to all Ghanaians to unite and move the nation forward. “All hands must be on deck to ensure that our people get good water, good education, good health and also to improve upon their living standards.”
