Kongo (U/E), May 5, GNA - Mrs. Agnes Chigabatia, Upper East Deputy Regional Minister, has appealed to Christian women to instil discipline in their children so as to curb the growing indiscipline that is extending to every segment of the Ghanaian society. "As parents and responsible citizens we need to instil in our children, a greater sense of discipline. We have to impart to them the cherished Christian values such as respect for adults and authority, honesty, diligence, punctuality and above all the love of God and Mankind", she said.

Mrs. Chigabatia was speaking at a conference of the Women's Ministry of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal of Navrongo-Bolgatanga Catholic Diocese at Kongo near Bolgatanga on Sunday. The Conference on the theme, "The Christian Woman , a Vessel and Mirror for Our Age " attracted over 600 women from all over the Diocese who for three days discussed social and religious issues aimed at helping them acquire skills and knowledge to enable them effectively manage their homes, marriages, workplaces and their communities.

Mrs. Chigabatia said for adults to make meaningful impact on the lives of the youth, their actions and deeds must be exemplary, saying "it is only in this way that we can function effectively as vessels and mirror for the youth of this age." She called on all Religious Bodies to pray for peaceful election in December.

Mrs. Mary Magdalene Azumah, Diocesan Women's Coordinator, said God had given Women special abilities to love and bring peace and urged all women to use their persuasive spirits and gentle hearts to influence their men to stop violence and let peace prevail in Bawku and other conflict zones in the country. She urged women to attach the fear of God in everything that they did, including their role in the family, society, business and chosen carrier. "In every responsibility given you, do it as unto the Lord, for that is the only way you can do it well." She said the Women's Ministry was formed to address some of the problems, limitations and hindrances confronting women within the Church and the conference was designed to help the women draw closer to God and be able to use their charismatic gifts to evangelize. Mrs. Nina Burkson, a Member and Mentor in the Ministry, said it was easy to forget God when all went well and urged the women to pray at all times and strive to do God's will. She advised them to eschew jealousy, selfishness and wickedness and not maltreat young people who need their help, love and protection.
