Tamale, May 31, GNA - CDH Insurance Company Ltd on Wednesday donated 18 million cedis to the Tamale Disaster and Relief Fund to cater for the victims of the rainstorm that hit the Metropolis on April 21 this year.

Mr Benjamin Kusi Amoako, Business Development Manager of the Company, who made the donation said it was part of the Company's social responsibility to respond to people's needs in times of misfortune and distress.

He sympathized with the victims of the rainstorm and advised them to take consolation in the fact that they were still alive and could rebuild their lives.

Mr Amoako advised the public and corporate bodies to take proactive contingency measures in the form of insurance to provide for their economic leverages since the unexpected could happen at any time. He said taking insurance covers would save them from anguish and financial loss.

Alhaji Mahamoud Alhassan, Chairman of the Disaster Relief Fund, who received the donation on behalf of the Metropolitan Chief Executive, thanked the Company for its contribution and gave the assurance that the money would be used for its intended purpose. He said the rainstorm destroyed over 800 houses but the Assembly had been able to rehabilitate only about 287 of them, adding that there was the need to rehabilitate all of them, particularly the school buildings.
