Amanase (E/R), Aug. 1, GNA - It is only prudent that parents give their children good education, in this era of highly competitive scientific world to equip them to face the challenges.

Mr Gilbert Asiedu-Addo, Proprietor of the Mothers Pride Schools at Amanase, near Suhum in the Eastern Region, made the statement at the school's open day at the weekend.

Mr Asiedu-Addo said it was essential that churches, communities as well as public and private organizations played meaningful complementary roles in providing substantial resources to strengthen pre-school and basic education, in the face of high population growth.

The Proprietor also the Managing Director of City Printers in Accra, said the crises facing the education system, was not only limited to the conditions at the tertiary level, but more rooted at the basic level and, therefore, called on all heads of educational institutions to play their important supervisory roles effectively, to help create a favourable atmosphere for teaching and learning.

He advised children to take advantage of all opportunities available to them to lay a solid foundation for the future and called on parents to invest in their children's education.

Mr Asiedu-Addo noted further that the huge amount being spent by the government and other donor agencies on education would come to nought, if parents failed to enrol their children in the schools. He suggested to the people, mainly a farming community, to plant trees not only for economic gains, but also to enhance the rainfall pattern and to serve as windbreaks.
