There are strong indications that the Iranian relationship with the government of Ghana and the Northern part of the country, will hold greater prospects for the two countries especially the Northern Region in the areas of Health, Agriculture development, Education and Business and Commerce.

This strategic relation was boosted when the Iranian Ambassador to Ghana, Dr Nasrollahi Maleki visited the Northern Region of Ghana to engage the region in creating avenues of establishing further collaborations in addressing issues bothering on health, education and agriculture development whilst placing much emphasis on youth empowerment through business and commerce.

Dr Nasrollahi Maleki whilst in the region paid a courtesy call on the Northern Regional Minister where both leaders discussed at length, programs that will propel the Northern Region to greater pedestal and benefit more from what Iran has to offer in those areas.

His Excellency Dr Nasrollahi Maleki urged the people of the region to promote peaceful coexistence among themselves and gave the assurance that the Iranian government is committed to strengthening bilateral relationship with Ghana and the Northern Region and lauded the government of Ghana and the Ghanaian Ambassador to Iran, H.E. Alhaji Sayuti Yahaya Iddi for the zeal he has to work closely with Iran to the benefit of both countries.

More so, the appointment of H.E. Alhaji Sayuti Yahaya Iddi by President Akufo-Addo to the position of Ghana’s ambassador to Iran looks promising for the progress of ties between the Northern Region of Ghana and Iran since H.E. Alhaji Sayuti Yahaya Iddi is from the Northern Region.

The relationship that the Northern region of Ghana is establishing with Iran now looks more promising with H.E. Alhaji Sayuti Yahaya Iddi and the ambassador to that country.

The Northern Regional Minister, Salifu Sa-eed and some officials also reciprocated the visit by the Iranian Ambassador to Ghana by visiting the Ambassador where discussions continued with Iran pledging to support the Northern Region in the areas of Health, Education and Agriculture as Dr Nasrollahi Maleki expressed confidence in the Northern Region to boost export to the region.

Dr Nasrollahi Maleki pledged Iran’s commitment to secure scholarships for needy but brilliant students in the region, ensure the growth of agriculture towards job creation and sustainability of livelihoods.

He lauded Ghana for its role in international peace and indicated that Iran will continue to support Ghana and the Northern Region. Commitment from Iran is hence high so much so that, a delegation will soon visit Iran to seal their new relation.

This arrangement for the Northern Regional minister and other officials to visit Iran has already been in discussion during the two meetings, for the team to be in Iran to meet Iranian business partners all in the spirit of boosting trade and commerce in the Northern Region.

Interestingly, H.E. Alhaji Sayuti Yahaya Iddi, Ghana’s ambassador to Iran met the Iranian President, Hassan Rouhani where he made a case for the Northern Region resulting in some positive response from President Hassan Rouhani who also pledged his country’s support towards the development of Ghana which will eventually be of greater benefit to the Northern Region.
