Islamic Communities in Nkoranza North to construct SHS

The Islamic Communities in the Nkoranza North District have united to establish a Senior High School at Kranka to promote youth education in the District.

This was announced at the launch of the project at a special fund-raising harvest organised by the leadership of the Islamic communities on Sunday at Kranka in the Brong-Ahafo Region.

Fiteen-thousand Ghana Cedis (GHC15, 000.00), being contributions by the communities was realized from the harvest, to be used for the commencement of the project.

Professor Adu Mohammed Oppong, a Lecturer at the Kintampo College of Health and Well-Being, commended the Moslems for their foresight in initiating the project to move the communities forward.

Prof. Oppong, also a citizen of Kranka pledged to support the project with 100 bags of cement and further gave the assurance of offering scholarship to three promising but needy students from the school communities annually, after the project had been completed.

He urged the youth of the area to be self-disciplined, saying that, education was a solid foundation that would propel them higher in future as responsible leaders of the country.

Alhaji Abdulai Oppong, the Chief Imam of Kranka commended the Moslem communities for their solidarity in raising the funds to start the educational project.

Mr. Oscar Osei, the Assemblyman for Kranka, on behalf of the Islamic communities, expressed appreciation to the chiefs and elders of Kranka for releasing 60 hectares of land for the Project.

Mr. Osei praised Alhaji Alhassan Oppong, a native of Kranka and founder of the local Islamic Basic School for starting the school in 1996 and self-financing it for three years before it was absorbed into the public system.
