Nyinahin-Ashanti, March 5, GNA - Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Samuel Aloredey, in-charge of Atwima Mponua District Police on Wednesday said it was unethical for police personnel to be involved in debt collection.

He warned them to desist from harassing citizens who are indebted since it was against the law. DSP Aloredey was commenting on the behaviour of Lance Corporal Gyamfi of Nyinahin Police Station who allegedly detained a debt suspect, Mr Noah for three days in police custody. Mr Noah is alleged to have collected GH¢320 from his business partner to supply sawn timber but failed.

DSP Aloredey said police personnel should abide by their code of ethics and advice the people on their rights in society. He said all civil cases should be sent to court for redress and the police to facilitate investigations.
