Jaman Citizens Association of Sunyani have expressed its gratitude to the Electoral Commission for its recommendation for the creation of Jaman North District and four others in Brong Ahafo and appealed to the government to accept the proposal.
In a statement the Association said the Commission's recommendation "is a long cherished dream come true."
"It is on this note that we the citizens of Jaman in Sunyani and its environs gallantly salute the Commission for a good job done and for its objectivity and fair report".
The Association said several petitions were sent to past governments for the creation of another district in Jaman District to ensure administrative efficiency in the provision of social amenities and rapid development but had not received any positive response.
''With the change of government to the era of positive change, the citizens of the district knew very well that this time round, our demands would receive sympathetic hearing.''
The Association said the creation of the new district "is only half the battle won as far as the myriad of problems in the district are concerned".
It said roads in the district were in deplorable conditions as none was tarred and appealed to the government to help rehabilitate them, notably the Botokrom-Sampa road.
