Japan NGO donates books to schools in Nkoranza

Nkoranza (B/A), Aug. 02, GNA – Monphy and Youth Association, a non-governmental organisation based in Japan, has donated English and Mathematics text books and “T” Shirts valued at about GHC6,000 to the Nkoranza South District Directorate of Education for distribution to schools in the district.

Prince Charles Kofi Monphy, a 44-year-old citizen of Nkoranza based in Japan and the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the NGO, made the presentation.

He said the books were to encourage the youth of the district to take their education serious.

Madam Fati Saakaa, the District Deputy Coordinating Director, commended Mr Monphy for organising the Association to support the education of the youth of the area.

Madam Philippa Banson, the District Director of Education described the donation as very timely because English and Mathematics were important subjects on the school curriculum and appealed to teachers in the area to assist the students make good use of the books.

Mr. Morphy has been supporting development programmes in the area. In 2009 he donated an ambulance to the Nkoranza Health Centre and also paid for the Insurance Premium of some 500 needy people from Nkoranza to benefit from the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).

Additionally, some five Senior High School students in the district are on Monphy and Youth Association scholarship that was established in Nkoranza to help brilliant but needy children in the area.
