Japan provides $94,000 community centre for Ahyiresu community

Ahyrisu (Ash), Dec. 13, GNA - The Grassroot Human Security Project (GGHSP), has constructed a $94,245.00 community resource centre complex for the Ahyiresu community, near Kwahu Praso in the Asante Akyem District. The furnished resource centre complex, which was completed within 10 months ,comprise a library, health centre, ICT centre, hall, office and caretakers residence.

The GGHSP has for the past few years constructed 224 similar projects for a number of communities in the country out of which 21 are in the Ashanti Region. Mr Keiichi Katakami, Japanese Ambassador said in a speech read on his behalf at the inauguration of the project that the resource centres would provide a wide range of benefits to the beneficiary communities. He advised the community to ensure regular maintenance of the facility to serve a worthy purpose. The District Director of Education, Mr Joseph Amoah commended Mr Samuel Owusu, a citizen of the town through whose efforts the community benefited from the project.

He promised to provide adequate books for the library. Mr Amoah appealed to the District Assembly and the Member of Parliament for the area to extend electricity to the community to enable them make full use of the centre.

The chief of the town, Nana Agyepong Ntrah II, said the completion of the project demonstrated the good relations between Ghana and Japan and appealed for support to construct quarters for teachers posted to the community.

He also asked for the rehabilitation of the Kwahu Praso -Ahyiresu feeder roads. In an address read on his behalf, the chief of Old Juaben, Nana Otuo Srebour II, urged the community to mobilise resources to initiate self-help projects to enhance their living standard.
