John Boadu appoints Rashid Salifu as Northern Sector Campaign Coordinator

Aspiring National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), John Boadu, has appointed Northern Regional Organiser Alhaji Rashid Salifu as his Northern Sector Campaign Coordinator ahead of the party’s National Delegates Conference in September.

Former Northern Regional NPP Second Vice Chairperson Felicia Tettey has also been appointed to support the campaign in the Northern Sector.

The appointments were announced during Boadu’s engagement with NPP constituency executives from the nine constituencies in the Tamale Zone as part of his nationwide campaign tour.

Boadu said all previously appointed Regional, Constituency and Area Coordinators would remain in place.

The meeting received the endorsement of constituency chairpersons across the Tamale Zone, with the Caucus Chairman declaring, on behalf of all 18 NPP constituency chairpersons in the Northern Region, their support for Boadu’s bid.

Speaking under the theme, “Bringing Back the Winning Ways of the NPP,” Boadu highlighted what he described as key achievements of previous NPP administrations, including the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), Free SHS, expansion of technical and vocational education and training (TVET), the School Feeding Programme, Free Maternal Healthcare, Metro Mass Transit, Agenda 111 and the digitalisation agenda.

He also cited the NPP’s victories in the 2016 and 2020 general elections, saying the party won the 2020 election despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic and global economic conditions.

2028 strategy

Outlining his vision for the NPP ahead of the 2028 elections, Boadu pledged to pursue reforms aimed at rebranding the party, strengthening internal election-security mechanisms and reinforcing constituency structures.

He also said he would support the Flagbearer’s commitment to creating 10 constituency-based appointments nationwide.

Boadu said protecting ballots at polling stations would be a key priority under his leadership, while targeted and data-driven interventions would be used to reclaim marginal constituencies.

He said the office of the National Chairman requires leadership that is “fair, firm and fearless” and pledged to restore discipline, strengthen unity and lead the NPP back to what he described as its winning tradition.

Boadu called on party members to remain united and focused on returning the NPP to government in 2028.
