John Teye Memorial Institute donates to rehabilitation centre

Nsawam, March 9, GNA- The Reverend John Teye Memorial Institute on Friday presented assorted items worth over 20 million cedis to the Remar Rehabilitation Centre at Nsawam in the Eastern Region.

The items include 12 bags of rice, five bags of beans, five bags of sugar and five big gallons of cooking oil. The others were large quantities of assorted biscuits and drinks, among other confectioneries. Presenting the items, Mr. Lawrence Otute John Teye, Director of the Institute said the Management, staff and students were touched by the plight of the centre following an appeal launched by the centre. He said the Institute, in response appealed through the students who received donations from their parents adding, "With the combined efforts of the contributions from our students and the school, we are here today to make this donation."

Mr. John Teye advised the inmates of the rehabilitation centre not to consider themselves as inferior to other children who are more privileged but rather to keep their hope burning as God has a master plan for their lives.

He said the Institute has decided to make similar donations to the centre each term and would also send its band to entertain the inmates once a year.

Mr. Ouedraogo Baouedewagre the Ghana Director Of Remar International expressed his gratitude to the Institute for showing love and concern for the plight of the inmates.

He said the Remar Rehabilitation Centre receives and rehabilitates prostitutes, drug addicts and orphans among other destitute at no cost. Mr. Baouedewagre further appealed to individuals, philanthropists, non-governmental organizations among others to contribute their quota to make life worth living for the less privileged in society.
