A cross section of the teachers
The National Council for Curriculum and Assessment training workshop shorten NaCCA for all teachers in the country which commenced Tuesday, 13th August, 2019 has ended successfully in Jomoro Municipality of the Western Region Saturday, 17th August, 2019.
The NaCCA workshop in Jomoro was organized at Annor Adjaye SHS at Ezinlibo in the Municipality.
Five hundred and Seventy-one (571) teachers made of Kindergarten and Primary teachers were trained in Jomoro for the NaCCA program.
The Jomoro Municipal Director of Education, Mr. George Effah in his opening address gave an overview of the NaCCA program and encouraged teachers to fully participate to help abreast themselves with the current trends of educational System.
‘‘You have been assembled here and you will be here for five days to undergo an orientation for the new standard based curriculum. This orientation has been very necessary to help you as teachers who are recognised as major stakeholder in the implementation of the revised curriculum, to be fully abreast with the sequence and progression of all the learning areas in the curriculum". Mr Effah said.
He stressed that, the only way to prepare Ghana and the next generation, is to provide them with skills that will enable them to navigate the new world and the challenges that will be inherent in it.
"The dynamics of today’s world require a holistic and broad education of students to enable them to function and thrive in varying environments. The new Standard Based Curriculum has taken into consideration all the above needs hence the need for them (participants) to seriously get fully involved", he added.
In his closing address, Mr. Effah was highly enthused of the high sense of commitment and comportment exhibited by participants, even though he felt at the commencement of the workshop participants were dispirited and down-hearted upon hearing and reading as circulating on social media that GHC8 has be allocated for snacks and lunch and GHC50 for T&T.
He added that, he expects that participants go to their various schools to show the path of excellence and help develop pupils to become literate, problem solvers with creativity, confidence and competence to participate fully in the Ghanaian society as future leaders.
He also tasked them to help learners analyze and interpret issues carefully in other to make informed decisions.
He said ''Education is life-long mission'' and therefore urged all the participants to continue to shine and pursue knowledge in order to attain enviable heights.
