The dilapidated structure of Jomoro Municipal Education office in the Western Region, which was at the verge of collapse has received a massive renovation.

The structure which was awarded to a contractor and completed in 2006 by the then District Chief Executive, Hon. Martin Ackah was recently re-awarded to another contractor for a comprehensive renovation.

The structure which makes it uncomfortable and discouraging to be accessed for normal day to day office activities to smoothly run as expected caught the glimpse and heart of the Current Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Ernest Kofie after being prompted over the current status and dangers expected to be posed in the near future by Municipal Director of Education, Mr. George Effah.

The structure was awarded to Messrs Joerica Company Limited on 15th October 2018 and was completed and handed over to the Municipal Education Directorate on Thursday, February 21, 2019, at a small durbar held at the Staff common room of the office.

The handing over ceremony was represented by the MCE, Hon. Ernest Kwofie, the Municipal Education Director, Mr. George Effah and his staff, The Municipal Coordinating Director, The Assemblymen of Half Assini and the Media.

The Municipal Director of Education, Mr. George Effah in a brief speech vehemently thanked the MCE for heeding to their cry and came to their aid.

According to the Education Director, "MCEs have come and gone but it has taken Hon. Ernest Kofie who has painstakingly listened to their plea when the need arose".

He seized the platform to humbly requested that other Non-Governmental Organizations and other benevolent organizations joined hands for the provision of furniture to help furnish the office for smooth and effective running of activities.

The Municipal Chief Executive, who was touched by the brief speech by the Municipal Director of Education, wholeheartedly responded affirmatively and expressed his profound gratitude to the Messrs Joerica Company Limited for completing the renovative works ahead of the scheduled time.

Hon. Ernest Kofie said education was one of his key areas and to ensure that quality teachers are posted to areas where teachers are most needed for effective and efficient output of work.

He donated 15 boxes of chalk, 210 English Dictionaries, 3,000 Pieces of school uniforms for brilliant but needy children in Jomoro and reading books as part of the measures to motivate children to learn to uplift the image of Jomoro in academic performance.
