Journalists asked to report the virtues of the Police Service

Wa, Aug. 11, GNA - Mr Reynolds E. Kwakye, Upper West Regional Police Commander, on Tuesday appealed to the media not to focus only on the negative acts of some few police personnel to tarnish the image of the Service.

"It is sad and sometimes disappointing to read or hear reports about some police personnel who involve themselves in criminal activities. There is the need for members of the public to recognise some of the good things... and stop condemning the whole Police Service."

Mr Kwakye was speaking at the start of a three-day seminar on peace building and conflict resolution, for 50 police personnel, organised by the Ghana Network of Peace Building Project in collaboration with IBIS International at Wa.

He said the media must acknowledge the fact that the police were doing every thing possible to promote peace and tranquillity in the country.

Mr Kwakye said the Regional Command would create a congenial atmosphere for smooth relationship between the police and the general public.

In a speech read on his behalf, Mr Sahanun Mogtari, the Regional Minister called on leaders of the various political parties to avoid making provocative utterances that undermine peace and development. He urged the police administration to check the spate of highway robbery on the Wa- Bamboi road.
