Plans are far advance by management of Joy Industries Limited producers of Joy Ointment, Joy Soap and Joy Dadi Bitters (JD) and owners of BRYT 99.1 FM a Koforidua based private Radio Station to construct the largest zoo and artificial walkway in the country.
Management of the multiple awards winning herbal industry made the disclosure when the Eastern Regional Minister Hon. Antwi Bosiako-Sekyere paid a working visit to the company recently.
Speaking to the media during the visit of the Regional Minister, the Chief Executive Officer and his Deputy, Dr. Manfred Takyi and Dr. Harrison Tetteh respectively disclosed that, they have acquired 1000 hectares of land at Koforidua for the construction of the facility.
Dr. Manfred said the idea to construct the said facility became necessary based on their personal assessments in recent times that the two national Zoos in the country does not have adequate animals which can attract tourist to visit such places hence the idea to setup the modem zoo which will come with a four star hotel facility in eastern region.
The two directors of the company expressed their appreciation to Ghanaians for patronizing their products particularly Joy Dadi Bitters (JD), arguably the leading alcoholic beverage in the country.
Management of the company which is about introducing a new alcoholic product onto the market in the coming days has assured Ghanaians especially their cherished patrons of the company’s resolve to give them value for their money.
They said such a change was essential for transforming the economy, stressing that patronizing local goods will create jobs for the growing youth, result in industrial expansion and enable local industries to compete with their foreign counterparts.
On behalf of management, the CEO of the company (Dr. Manfred Takyi) expressed his profound gratitude to the Regional Minister, Hon. Antwi Boasiako-Sekyere, for his demonstration of leadership qualities and sense of development to visit the company.
According to him, since the establishment of the company which was started in 2005 from a bed room and has now become a household name no very important person has ever visited them to find out their operations, hence the visit was historic.
He said they were motivated to establish the company in an effort to create jobs for the teeming unemployed youth since government alone cannot do all and therefore the need for individuals to support.
Dr. Manfred Takyi further said as part of the company’s social responsibility, last year, it funded the rehabilitation of portions of the Eastern Regional Police and Fire Service buildings both at Suhum. He said the company also supported the celebration of some notable festivals in the country to promote the country’s cultural heritage, and was currently sponsoring a group of medical personnel to provide health care for people in remote communities.
The minister and his entourage were conducted around the soap making, ointment, cream and finally the bitters department of the company after a short briefing in order to have first-hand information about the operations of the company.
On his part, the Regional Minister paid glowing tribute to the management of the company especially Dr. Manfred and Harrison for their widow’s contributions towards the socioeconomic development of the country.
The regional minister who was shock about the invest acumen of management of the company said, he was informed to embark on the visit following the much talked about Joy Dadi bitters, the leading alcoholic beverage in the country.
The regional Minister has assured management of the Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) and government commitment to support their activities since not every person would like to venture into activities like Joy Industries Limited to create jobs for the jobless Ghanaian people.
The Minister endorsed the products of the company especially JD, charged Ghanians to patronize the products since it’s truly a Ghanaian made with high taste worthy of supporting and encouraging.
He has called on investors particulars individuals who are well to do and coming from the region to invest in the region not only to improve the ill economic status of the region but to also provide jobs for the teeming unemployed youth in the region.
He urged the directors of the company to expand their business with its corresponding job creation for the unemployed youth in the region, adding, he would contact the minister for trade and industry and EDIF and see how best they can support the company.
He further appealed to the workers to consider themselves as shareholders of the factory, and give out their very best to increase productivity. The minister, therefore, reminded them that their livelihood depends on the survival of the factory, and should not do anything to undermine the management.
