The Jubilee Mission Ministry International, London, has donated items to the James Camp prison at Roman Ridge in Accra to give hope and put smiles on the faces of the inmates.
The items include sports towels, shoes, snickers and clothing.
Reverend Seth Baah Agyekum, Director, Jubilee Missions Ministry International, London, presenting the items, said the gesture was part of the Mission’s corporate social responsibility to reach out to inmates.
He said the mission is built on strong values of helping flood victims, deprived communities and children.
The donation took place during a ceremony where 33 inmates of the prison graduated after a 10 week programme, organized by the Alpha for Prisons Ghana, an organization that trained youth leaders for evangelism.
He noted that the course was the fourth to be organized in the prison, whiles the donation was the first of its kind.
Rev Agyekum urged society, especially family members of offenders to accept them back into society and called on government and other organizations to help the Ghana prisons to reform the service to meet international standards.
Mr Robin Asamoah Fenning, Assistant Director of Prisons and Officer in Charge of the James Camp Prison, receiving the items, thanked the mission for the gesture and called on other institutions to support the prison service.
Also present at the ceremony were Rev DSP Anthony Brown, Champlain of the Prison Complex and Rev Superintendent Adama Okine, Greater Accra Regional Champlain of the service.
