Judicial Service outdoors new official uniforms

The Judicial Service on Friday introduced new official uniforms for its female staff at a ceremony in Accra with a call on the staff to place integrity at the highest pedestal in their endeavors.

Mrs. Justice Elizabeth Ankomah, Justice of the Court of Appeal, who made the call, also urged staff to renew their minds and strive to work harder in the coming years.

The new set of uniforms for both junior and senior ladies was jointly outdoored by Mrs. Justice Ankomah and Mrs. Grace Tagoe, the Director of Communications of the Judicial Service.

The white inner uniform has the Scale of Justice embossed in it.

She tasked the Judicial Service Ladies Association of Ghana (JUSLAG) to behave like the yeast, noting that, though small in quantity, it plays a key role in the baking of bread.

“This is your association, if you sell it high, it would be bought at a higher price,” she added.

Mrs. Ankomah told the ladies to give the right information to people who access the court, noting that, the Scale of Justice on the uniform connotes that they have been given rights and authority.

Reverend Father Reginald O. Lawson of the Holy Trinity Cathedral Church, Accra, who dedicated the uniforms, prayed that love would bind them all as they wear the uniforms in order to raise the image of the Service.

Mrs. Juliana Ammonoo-Lisa, First Deputy Judicial Secretary observed that there has been a massive staff growth with about 50 per cent of them being females.

The First Deputy Judicial Secretary encouraged all ladies in the Judiciary to join the JUSLAG, as it was one of the channels that information could be passed on to them.

According to her, the new uniforms would distinguish between staff and female intruders at the courts.

She said very soon, the Judicial Service would come out with a new overall uniform for cleaners.

Mrs. Ammoono-Lisa urged the ladies to continue dressing decently to avoid being criticized by the public.

Mrs. Gloria Ocansey, President of JUSLAG for the Greater Accra Region told the ladies that the association was determined to bring out a new face of the association.

According to Mrs. Ocansey, the executives of JUSLAG also intend to make the association mutually beneficial to all its members.

She recounted that, last year, the JUSLAG was able to sponsor five ladies to South Africa to attend a conference.
