Mpaem (E/R), Sept. 24, GNA - The Chiefs and people of Mpaem and its environs in the Fanteakwa District have appealed to the government and non-governmental organizations to build a new block of six classrooms for the town.

They made the appeal at a meeting held in the town to discuss problems confronting the development of the area.

The Government Accountability Improves Trust (GAIT), a non-governmental organization, and the Social Services Sub-committee of the District Assembly organized the meeting. The people complained that the junior high school building in the town had been taken over by primary pupils due to the dilapidated nature of the existing primary school building.

The Assemblyman for the area, Mr Eric Osanyengor, said some parents had withdrawn their wards to JHS at Kwahu Amanfrom and Dedesawirako. The District Chief Executive, Mr Ebenezer Ofoe Caesar, appealed to School Management Committees and Parent Teacher Association in the area to intensify enrolment drive to increase enrolment in the primary school to merit the construction of a new school building.
