Lecturers at the Kumasi Polytechnic on Wednesday boycotted the lecture halls over pay demands.
They were seen chatting in groups when the Ghana News Agency (GNA) visited.
They would not talk to reporters about what triggered the strike action and the Chairman of the local branch of the Polytechnic Teachers Association of Ghana (POTAG), Mr Edmund Oppong-Peprah, was said to have travelled to Accra.
Some of the students said they were waiting for their leaders to provide them with information about why their lecturers have decided not to teach.
They, however, appealed to the government to act quickly to address whatever grievances the POTAG has.
“Everything must be done to get the teachers back to the lecture halls to prevent interruptions of the academic calendar,” they said.
This is the second time in about two weeks that lecturers at the polytechnic had laid down their tools. **
