Dr Mustapha Ahmed, Minister of State in Charge of Development Authorities at the Office of the President, said government would continue to open its doors to the private sector for partnership in the educational sector.
He also reiterated government's commitment to come out with a policy to guide Corporate Ghana in the provision and discharge of their Corporate Social Responsibilities to suit the communities they were serving.
Dr Ahmed said this when Forwin Ghana Limited, distributors of Geisha Mackerel and its mother company Kawasho Food Company in Japan, donated 100 pieces of two-in-one school furniture, 3,000 exercise books and 30 cartons of Geisha Mackerel to Unity Junior High School (JHS) at Kotobabi in the North Ayawaso Constituency on Wednesday.
He called on industry players and stakeholders in the educational sector to increase their support base to the Primary and Junior High Schools in the country, to help in the proper training and transformation of the children, in order for them to become responsible future leaders.
Dr Ahmed who is also the Member of Parliament for the area, said education was the key to the development of every nation, and urged the private sector to re-direct their support to the educational sector of the country.
He thanked the company for the gesture, and charged the school authorities to make good use of the furniture.
Mr Sam Zacca, Head of Corporate Affairs of Forwin Ghana said, the donation was part of the Corporate Social Responsibility of the company which was being done annually.
He said Forwin Ghana had contributed in many areas, and that the educational sector was one of the areas the company had now focused attention on, in order to develop the country's human resource base.
Mr Zacca said the donation was not only in Accra, and that the company was going all over the country where it was operating.
He commended the MP for the support given them, and called on the school authorities to be diligent in their duties.
Mr Yasunori Hayashi, Managing Director of Kawasaki Food Company, expressed satisfaction of the hospitality given to Forwin Ghana over the years, and hoped the company would do more to partner government in the educational sector.
Madam Juliana Ivy Agyekwena, Circuit Supervisor for Kotobabi 19 Circuit, said there has been improvement in the performance of the JHS within the Circuit.
She said, last term, the MP provided the school with a computer laboratory, and that this has improved the studying of Information Communication Technology in the school.
