KMA establishes sister-city relations with seven cities

Kumasi, March 30, GNA - The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), has entered into sister-city relations with major seven cities across the world to help inject some pace into the development of Kumasi. The cities include Almere in the Netherlands, Newark, Atlanta and Columbus in United States, Kitchener in Canada, Ouagadougou in Burkina Faso and Tswane in South Africa.

Kumasi, March 30, GNA - The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), has entered into sister-city relations with major seven cities across the world to help inject some pace into the development of Kumasi. The cities include Almere in the Netherlands, Newark, Atlanta and Columbus in United States, Kitchener in Canada, Ouagadougou in Burkina Faso and Tswane in South Africa. Mr Samuel Sarpong, the Metropolitan Chief Executive, told a meeting of the assembly in Kumasi that the KMA cherished the concept of sister-city relationship as a means to promote development cooperation. It comes with the added advantage of building the capacity of the assembly's officials for poverty reduction and sustainable development. The MCE said through its partnership with Almere, additional classrooms had been built for the Ayigya, Ohwim and Fankyenebra primary schools. The cooperation with Kitchener focuses on strategic planning and public engagement process for the Bantama Sub-Metropolitan area. Mr Sarpong said this was designed to help achieve increased citizen's participation in local governance for effective and efficient service delivery. 30 March 10
