Kumasi, Sept. 11, GNA - Mr Maxwell Kofi Jumah, the Kumasi Metropolitan Chief Executive on behalf of the staff and members of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), expressed his gratitude to the residents of Kumasi for contributing towards being adjudged the cleanest metropolis in the country at the launch of this year's National Sanitation Week in Sunyani.

A release issued by the KMA in Kumasi on Friday said, since the KMA would want to be an annual winner of the prize, it urged all residents to contribute to the assembly's campaign of maintaining a clean environment.

This, they can do, the release said, by adhering to the call on keeping the frontage of stores, houses, kiosks and gutters clean. The release warned that, those who refuse to keep their frontage clean will face the full rigours of the law and will be liable to have their kiosks or stores closed down in accordance with the KMA Sanitation and House Owners/Occupiers Bye-Laws of 1995, and Act 29, chapter 8 section 296, sub-sections 1 and 2 of the Criminal Code of 1960.
