The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has for the fourth time failed to break the stalemate over the election of its Presiding Member (PM).

None of the two contestants, Nana Kofi Senya and Baffour Agyei Kesse, could garner enough votes to cross the needed two-thirds majority votes’ threshold.

They tied - with each of them receiving 67 votes, forcing the Electoral Commission to postpone the election indefinitely.

Nana Senya is seeking to be elected PM of the Assembly for a record fourth time. His other contestant, Baffour Kesse, has served in the position once.

The inconclusive election shows the deep division of the KMA.
