Kaneshie chief pledges commitment to unity

Nii Ayitey Kaneshie I, the newly installed Kaneshie Mantse, has pledged his commitment to unity to champion the development of the Asere Traditional Council.

He made the pledge when he took the oath of allegiance and office before Nii Amarkai III, Asere Dzaase at the Asere Traditional Council at Kaneshie in the Greater Accra Region.

Nii Kaneshie promised to work in collaboration with the elders towards the development of the area.

The 53-year-old chief, known in private life as James Odartei Lamptey, is a businessman and a descendant of the late Asere Mantse, Teiko Ansah from Frimpong We, a suburb of Asere in the Ga Mashie area.

Nii Kaneshie urged the chiefs and queen mothers under the Asere Stool to come together with a common purpose in order to move the area forward.

"It is important that we put our resources together to address our common challenges," he said.

On sanitation, Nii Kaneshie urged the churches at Kaneshie to continue to play collaborative roles in assisting city authorities to maintain clean environment.

He called on the churches and the youth to step up awareness creation among the public to refrain from indiscriminate dumping of refuse into drains and any available space to prevent the spread of diseases.

He appealed to parents in the community to invest their resources in educating their children, saying "education is the key for development".

Nii Kaneshie is an ardent Christian who serves at the Guild of the Sanctuary at the Saint Augustine Anglican Church at Dansoman in Accra.

Naa Ayeley Obonse I was installed as Kaneshie Mantse, Naa Amankwah Aduoye I, Bubiashie Queenmother and Naa Ateana I, Omanjor queenmother.
