Kasoa to get multi-purpose business centre

Kasoa (C/R), Oct. 22, GNA - A multi-purpose business and administrative centre is to be built at the site of the old Kasoa market by the Awutu-Effutu-Senya District Assembly.

Mr Solomon Kwashie Abbam-Quaye, District Chief Executive (DCE), announced this when he met the executive of the Kasoa Number One branch of the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU), at Kasoa on Thursday. The meeting afforded the DCE with an opportunity to discuss Commercial transport activities in the fast-developing town with the leaders of the Union.

Mr Abbam-Quaye said projects planned for the site included a Police and Fire Service stations and the rehabilitation of the lorry park and the road linking it to main Cape Coast-Accra trunk road. He said the Assembly recognised the vital role of the Union in revenue mobilisation at Kasoa and would do everything within its capability to motivate commercial drivers to honour their tax obligation promptly.

He praised the executive of the Union for their impressive performance and said the Assembly was considering allocating part of its common fund to the GPRTU for periodic rehabilitation of the lorry park, adding that, the amount would be recovered from the lorry park tolls the Union collects for the Assembly.

Mr Abbam-Quaye expressed the hope that the move would encourage the Union to increase its monthly revenue mobilisation target of 15 million cedis.

Alhaji Muhamadu Adamu, branch Chairman and Mr S Artey, secretary, assured the DCE that the Union would intensify its efforts to promote the objectives of the Assembly. Alhaji Adamu said the Union collected over 100 million cedis annually for the Assembly.
