Naaga (U/E), June 21, GNA - Mr Mark Woyongo, has cut a sod for the construction of 10 lockable stores and 20 stalls for the Naaga market, the second highest patronized market in the Kassena Nankana East District.

The project is funded from the District Common Fund and estimated to cost 600 Ghana cedis.

Mr Woyongo said it was in fulfilment of the government's commitment to develop existing markets for local economic development with emphasis on addressing development challenges that confront many communities.

He said in addressing the problems of infrastructure and removal of schools under trees, two more six-unit classroom blocks and ancillary facilities were earmarked for Wuru and Naaga Tindama school. "Government interventions in the area of school feeding programme will soon be expanded to cover more schools. More free exercise books and school uniforms will be provided as well as provide good environment for effective teaching and learning", Mr Woyongo added. Mr Woyongo appealed to traditional authorities to continue to partner the government in development by releasing land for projects. He said the Naaga community had also been selected to benefit from the small town pipe borne water system. Mr Emmanuel Andema, the District Chief Executive, appealed to community members, especially assembly members, to embark on a vigorous campaign on revenue mobilization to help improve the finances of the assembly.
