Construction work on the second phase of the Kejetia/Central Market Redevelopment Project in the Ashanti Region is set to resume, according to the Chief Executive Officer of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), Samuel Pyne.
In an exclusive interview with OTEC News reporter Jacob Agyenim Boateng on Saturday, Mr. Pyne revealed that the government had instructed the contractor to return to the site and resume work on the project.
This followed a recommencement meeting held on Thursday with all stakeholders involved in the project.
Although discussions on the variations in the contract sum are yet to be finalized, he assured that work would resume as scheduled.
He emphasized the government's commitment to completing the project for the benefit of traders in the Ashanti Region.
"The government is dedicated to seeing this project through to its completion, and we are excited to get back to work," he said.
"We understand the importance of this project to the traders and the region as a whole, and we are committed to delivering a world-class market facility," he added.
