Ketu South NPP elects Parliamentary Candidate

Aflao, Oct. 27, GNA - The Ketu-South Constituency of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) at the weekend elected Mr Thomas Kwasikpui Seshie, a Tutor at the Saint Paul's Secondary School at Denu as its Parliamentary Candidate for the 2004 General Elections.

Mr Seshie, 53, who contested the same seat for the NPP in the 2000 elections, polled 56 votes to beat Mr Godwin Nkwawu, 40, a building contractor who got 44 votes.

Mr Kenwood Nuworsu, Volta Regional Chairman of the NPP, asked delegates to consider primaries and other elections within the party as a family affair and refrain from acts that would lead to disunity in their ranks.

Mr Nuworsu urged party activists to focus on defeating the National Democratic Congress in next year's elections.

He said: "It is an uphill task, which requires cooperation from all members and supporters."

The Regional Chairman dismissed claims that the Ketu-South Constituency was the "NDC World Bank".

He said the NPP would win the two Ketu constituencies so that the MPs share of the Common Fund would go to NPP MPs for the development of the area.

Mr Nkwawu told the delegates that despite his defeat at the last elections, he had remained committed to the NPP.

Mr Seshie urged supporters to woo more people into the Party to ensure the Party's growth in the constituency.
