Kingsby Methodist Girls High School dedicated

Effiduase (E/R), Dec. 5, GNA - The Kingsby Methodist Girls High School at Effiduase near Koforidua and the new offices of the Eastern Regional Methodist Education Unit were dedicated on Friday. The Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church of Ghana, the Most Reverend Dr Robert Aboagye-Mensah, assisted by the Bishop of the Koforidua Diocese of the Church, Rt. Rev. Ebenezer G. L.Twum-Baah, performed the dedication ceremony.

The 3.940-billion-cedi three-story block for the School was constructed and donated to the Church by Dr Kingsley Adu-Baffour, owner of Kinsby Hotels limited, Accra.

The Lay President of the Methodist Church, Mr Ato Essuman said out of the 35 per cent of the national budget allocated for education, only ten per cent of that amount was used for administration, services and investment.

He said 90 per cent of the amount went into the payment of salaries hence the ten per cent could not meet the investment needs in the education sector and urged individuals and organisations to support education. Mr Essuman who is also the Chief Director of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, on behalf of the Ministry and the Methodist Church, thanked Dr Adu-Baffour, his family and friends who supported him to construct the building.

Mr Essuman asked the school authorities to take good care of the building to encourage other philanthropists to support education. He advised the students to respect their teachers and take their studies seriously to enable them to pass their examinations to justify the huge investment being made by their parents and government in their education.

Dr Adu-Baffour thanked his relatives, friends, members of the Effiduase Calvary Methodist Church and the Chiefs of Effiduase for supporting him in the construction of the building.

He said the completion of the building was the realization of his dream to support the education of the girl-child adding that the country's development could be enhanced if many women attained quality education to enable them to contribute meaningfully to national development.

Dr Adu-Baffour appealed to other individuals and organizations to support education by providing schools with computers, library books and other facilities required for effective teaching and learning. Dec. 5 04
