Kofi Jumah wins International Award

Kumasi, July 13, GNA - Mr Maxwell Kofi Jumah, Kumasi Metropolitan Chief Executive, has been nominated for the conferment of the prestigious Nobles International Award 2004, by the West Africa International, a leading West African magazine.

The award will be conferred on him on September 9, 2004, at the Accra International Conference Centre.

A nomination letter signed by Reverend Professor Dee Otibu-Asare, Managing Director of Intra-West African Communications Limited, publishers of the magazine, said Nobles International Award was presented each year to prominent personalities whose selfless efforts in their chosen fields of endeavour, had earned them a reputation beyond the shores of their respective countries.

"According to the letter, the rationale behind the competitive event was to identify and honour great "Africans who have distinguished themselves as men and women of integrity and have also contributed immensely to the economic growth of the African continent."

"From our own assessment, you are an embodiment of courage, steadfastness, hard work, integrity and foresight which have endeared you not only to Ghanaians but the entire people of Africa", the letter emphasised.

It mentioned some past recipients of the magazine's awards, including the Dr Kwame Nkrumah, Africa Leadership Award, as Professor Jerry Gana, former Nigerian Minister of Information, Chief Molade Okoya-Thomas, Chairman of CFAO, Alhaji Asuma Banda, Chairman of Antrak Group of Companies, Professor Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng, Chief Executive of Korle Bu Teaching Hospital and Professor Kofi Awoonor, International Poet and University don. 13 July 04
