Koforidua, April 29, GNA- The 10-member Koforidua constituency branch of the NPP has been removed from office following a vote of "no confidence" against them by polling station chairmen at an emergency meeting held at Koforidua on Wednesday.

By a vote 67 to 10, the chairmen reaffirmed an earlier 10-point resolution passed on January 4, this year, against the Nana Agyeman Tra and his executive.

In a resolution and signed by 63 out of the 91 chairmen, they cited division among the executive members and the lack of activities by the executive which necessitated them to lock up the office.

The meeting, which was convened by the Eastern Regional Secretariat of the party and presided over by the Regional Chairman, Nana Adi Ankamah, heard a report by the Secretariat on the impasse between the aggrieved chairmen and the executive sent to the National Organiser of the party, Mr Lord Commey, in February, this year, after he had charged it to go into the dispute.

Mr Commey who met the two factions but failed to resolve their differences, had asked the regional secretariat to use two options, either dialogue or through constitutional means, to settle the problem within two weeks.

The report said following the failure to reach an amicable settlement, a four-member Interim Management Committee under Mr Kwasi Osei Agyepong, Atiwa constituency chairman, was set up to administer affairs of the constituency.

Speaking to the GNA after the meeting, Nana Adi Ankamah said an emergency constituency congress would be held soon to elect a new executive into office in view of the demands of the election year activities including the holding of primaries to elect a parliamentary candidate for the constituency. 29 April 04
