Lecturers at the Koforidua Polytechnic in the Eastern region have resorted to the use of their private vehicles as offices due to the lack of office space in the school.

The lecturers keep their teaching materials in the trunk of their vehicles.

The school which has a student population of over 6,000 also lacks adequate hostel facilities to accommodate the students.

Acting Rector of the school, Godfred Abledu told Starr News the situation is seriously affecting academic work.

“Staff accommodation and staff offices is a major challenge for us. There is only one GETfund hostel which accommodates over 500 students; all the rest, about 5000 and over leave outside the school.

“The staff normally use their cars as office, they pack their books into it and these are very worrying,” he said.
