A COMMNUNIQUE ISSUED BY THE NATIONAL CENTRAL LEADERSHIP TEAM OF THE KOFORIDUA POLYTECHNIC ALUMNI ASSOCIATION

The National Central Leadership Team (NCLT) of the Koforidua Polytechnic Alumni Association held its 4th meeting on 12th July, 2014 at the Henry Appiah Conference Room of the Polytechnic.

Further to deliberations at the meeting, the members made up of the National Leadership Team and Chapter Executives came up with a Communiqué as follows:

1. The National Central Leadership Team shares the sentiments of the Lecturers and sympathizes with the plight of Polytechnic students and appeals to the Government to ensure that all the necessary facilitations are undertaken to enable members of the Polytechnic Teachers Association of Ghana (POTAG) call off their strike action and get back to work.

2. The meeting recommends to Government to consider community alternative energy sources approach in solving the existing energy crisis in the country. In this regard, members suggest that the government should make use of the abundant solar energy and other natural resources to generate energy in order to supplement the efforts of the other generating sites in the country. By this, the Polytechnics should be empowered to help in this regard.

3. Members wish to appeal to the Management and Staff of Koforidua Polytechnic to put an end to the current political and ethnical polarization that has characterized the Polytechnic environment. To this end, the meeting prays the Governing Council of the Polytechnic to device an amicable way of resolving the issues on disparities and interests to ensure a peaceful and harmonious atmosphere at the Polytechnic.
