Konongo-Odumase Fire Command's swift action saves lives in Asankare accident

The Konongo–Odumase Fire Command received a distress call reporting a vehicular accident in Asankare, located in the Asante Akim South Municipality. The incident occurred on Saturday, October 25, 2025.

A search and rescue team, led by LFM Siale Richard, swiftly responded and arrived promptly to assist the trapped victims.

Upon arrival, the team found that a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter (GR 622-22), driven by Kudjo, had collided with a stationary Honda tipper truck (GN 5723-14).

Bystanders had already rescued seventeen victims before the crew’s arrival; however, two passengers remained trapped in the mangled Sprinter.

The rescue team tactically employed dashboard rolling and door removal techniques to extricate the victims, who were subsequently transported to the Steward Hospital in Ambulance No—GV 589-20 for medical attention.

The cause of the accident is yet to be established.
