Students of Konongo Odumase Senior High School have appealed to the Ghana Education Service and all other stakeholders to, as a matter of urgency, resolve the current impasse confronting the school.

The students were driven home two weeks ago after demanding the immediate dismissal of their headmistress, Comfort Odehe, who they accuse of illegally transferring some 10 teachers of the school, a development they said had affected academic activities.

The protest, which happened on the evening of Friday (25 November), was curtailed by over 50 police officers who were deployed to the school to control the situation that nearly turned violent.

The school has since been closed down.

A few students who spoke to classfmonline.com said the development had affected their studies, adding that their academic work was in jeopardy.

"The WASSCE is fast approaching and we are lagging behind: we need our teachers to help us pass this exam," a final year student bemoaned.

“As it is now we are home, as a science student, I have not done any practicals and the little we have done in school is not enough to prepare us for the WASSCE, and we can’t do these experiments at home, so we need to go back to school,” another student said.

Meanwhile, a Parent Teacher Association (PTA) meeting which was held on Sunday December 11 to help resolve the issue yielded no results.
