Kpando gets Better Ghana agenda school facilities

Kpando, Oct. 13, GNA - Two educational facilities constructed under th= e "Better Ghana

Agenda" project in the Kpando District have been inaugurated. The projects are a GH¢92,000 Roman Catholic Kindergarten (KG) at Anfoega-Dzana


and a GH¢153,000 six-unit Primary School block at Aveme-Beme. The facilities, which were financed under the District Development Facility and the


Ghana Education Trust Fund, include access roads for Anfoega Senior High School and


Kpando District Assembly at the cost of GH¢200,000. Inaugurating the projects, Mr Francis K. Ganyaglo, District Chief Executive said funding


educational projects called for cost sharing among stakeholders. He appealed to the traditional councils and authorities to embrace the establishment of

educational endowment funds to support brilliant and needy students. Mr Ganyaglo said the Assembly would support such initiatives to stem the skyrocketing


dropout rate in the area due to the financial difficulties facing parents. He said 20 out of the 50 schools under trees in the district have been eliminated. Other projects undertaken in the District are the distribution of 4,27= 8 free school


uniforms and 247,656 exercise books, 400 KG desks and connection of 21 classrooms and


libraries to the National Electricity Grid. Through the Member of Parliament Initiative, 700 mono desks have been distributed


as well as 25 bundles of roofing sheets to basic schools. Mr Joseph Z. Amenowode, Volta Regional Minister said government has demonstrated

good faith towards the Better Ghana agenda as development projects have sprung up in


all spheres. He called on stakeholders to fashion out measures to reverse the downward trends of


standards of education, stressing that education is the livewire for accelerated


development.
