Kpando market women launch anniversary cloth

The Queen of Kpando Market in the Volta Region, Mama Asinyo III has called on Ghanaians to put their political affiliations behind and help President Nana Akufo-Addo’s government to succeed.

According to her, the government alone cannot do everything, hence, it is necessary for all to assist in making the economy work.

She made the called when the Association of traders in Kpando Market unveiled the anniversary cloth to celebrate ten years of her enstoolment as the queen of the market.

Background

The Kpando Market is one of the oldest markets in the region. It was set up during the pre- colonial times, thus, serving the communities around Kpando and the country at large.

There are 30 sub queens appointed to see to the various products in the market.

For example the Maize queen heads all maize activities in the Market, while the Okro Queen is leader of all okro sellers in the market with Mama Asinyo III being the overall head.

Next year February 2018 will make 10 years of her enstoolment as the head queen of the Kpando market.

To mark the celebration, the Association of traders in Kpando Market have decided to raise fund worth GHC350,000 to establish an office, and a First Aid Centre for the Market.

United front

Unveiling the anniversary cloth, the Member of Parliament of Kpando, Mrs Della Sowah lauded the initiative and call for a united front to develop the area.

Also present at the function was the MCE of Kpando, Mr. Elvis Gyampoh.
