The youth of Krobo have hailed the passage of the bill which gives legal backing for the establishment of the University of Environment and Sustainable Development at Somanya in the Yilo Krobo Municipality of the Eastern Region.
They commended government for what they described “a good decision” not only to establish a university in the Eastern Region but specifically in the Krobo area which has been without such facilities all this while.
Head of Communication for Kloma Gbi, Henking A. Adjase-Kodjo said “Spreading development projects across the country should be a key approach to decongesting the capitals and cities which are getting choked with attendant negativities.
The Krobo area has all it takes to host a university such as vast land, peace and stability, electricity, water, good access road and other such requirements complimented by its strategic location which readily connects not only to the national capital but Ho, the Volta Regional capital and Koforidua, the Eastern Regional capital”.
“We are excited at government’s decision which will, among others create jobs for the people and help speed up development of the area to give practical meaning to the concept of decentralization”.
Earlier in the week, the youth rose up and vehemently condemned the attempt by the minority in Parliament to influence the relocation of the university project from Somanya to Koforidua, the regional capital which the minority thought was most deserving and suitable for the university.
