Kumasi, Nov.10, GNA- Mr Paul Antwi- Kusi, the Chief Environmental Health Officer, at the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly, has appealed to estate developers to seek technical advise when putting up houses at disaster prone areas.

This he said would help minimise the number of casualties when disaster occurs.

Mr Antwi-Kusi was speaking at a Disaster Reduction Day, organised by the Metropolitan Office of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) at Gyinase in Kumasi on Tuesday.

He asked the public to refrain from indiscriminate disposal of waste to prevent the outbreak of communicable diseases.

Mr Antwi-Kusi called on sand and stone winners to reclaim lands they degrade through their activities.

Sub-Officer Ellis Aloryi of the Ghana National Fire Service, urged landlords to change the old electrical wiring in their houses to reduce domestic fire disasters.

Mr Richard Antwi-Boasiako, Kumasi Metropolitan Coordinator of NADMO called for public support to help curb disasters.
