Mamponteng (Ash), Oct 8, GNA- Alhaji Akwasi Yeboah, the Kwabre District Chief Executive, has said the district assembly is fulfilling the people's aspirations by acting as the centre of mobilisation for social and economic development.
The district, he said, serves as the most productive handicraft and tourist promotion industrial area in the country.
The stool carving village at Ahwiaa, the Adinkra stamping village at Ntonso, kente-weaving villages at Adanwomase and Wonoo, the Nkukua-Buoso sanctuary and retreat centre for spiritual renewal and healing and the reserve of groves and shrine at Antoa are some of the tourist sites.
Alhaji Yeboah, who was speaking to the press said the district has vast potentials for investments and employment creation and mentioned the untapped alluvial gold and diamond deposits at Ankaase and Safo and large granite boulder crops, sand, gravels and clay deposits.
The district also abounds in large tracts of arable land for large-scale commercial crop, agro-forestry and livestock farming with flexible land acquisition.
The DCE said the assembly has established a Development Fund to mobilise funds and resources to create a vibrant social and economic environment and infrastructure foundation to attract investors. He said a partnership agreement has been reached with private financiers for the provision of trading infrastructure for Mamponteng on Build, Operate and Transfer (BOT) basis.
Alhaji Yeboah said agreements are being sought for the privatisation of waste management at Ahwiaa and Atimatim, two peri-urban communities in the district.
