Two completed projects for the Kwabre Senior High School (SHS) at Akuma in the Nkoranza South Municipality of Brong-Ahafo Region was on Friday handed over to the Management of the school.
The projects, a girls’ dormitory block and a staff bungalow, executed under the supervision of Procurement and Project Management Consultancy (PPMC) Limited, an Accra-based projects and services consultancy firm, were funded by the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFUND) at a cost of GH¢ 950,000.00.
Mr Dotivions Avornyoh, Project Manager of PPMC said the handing over would pave way for the Contractor, Kwasi Gyan Company Limited, a Techiman-based building and furniture construction firm to work on any defects on the projects for a six months period before its handed over by the Municipal Assembly and the Education Directorate.
He urged the students and the staff of the school to handle the facilities properly to ensure their longer lifespan.
Mr Kwasi Gyan Jomo, Managing Director of the construction firm expressed appreciation to the chiefs and people of Akuma for the peaceful and encouraging manner they handled the workers of the Company throughout their one-year stay in the community.
Mr Mike Nyarko Kyeremeh, Assistant Director at the Nkoranza Municipal Assembly, who Deputised for Madam Stella Amoatemaa, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), praised the Contractor for completing the two projects on schedule.
Mr. Samuel Yaw Okyere, Headmaster of the school commended the Government for providing the projects, saying that, the girls’ dormitory can accommodate over 300 students and ensure an increase of female students’ intake while the staff bungalow would also house eight teachers.
