The Kwaebibirem District Assembly has confirmed Mrs Faustina Koranteng Addo, as the District Chief Executive (DCE).
Mrs Addo polled 43 votes out of the 50 cast by the assembly members present, thus getting 86 per cent to get the nod.
Seven members, representing 14 per cent, voted against her.
Mrs Addo, a former cocoa purchasing clerk, was the Parliamentary candidate of the National Democratic Congress for the Kade Constituency in the 2000 elections.
In her maiden address to the assembly, she expressed gratitude to the assembly members for the confidence they had in her, and pledged to work in union with them to send development to the area.
She said her prime duty would be to focus on finishing all the uncompleted projects, ensure the attainment of proper sanitation in the district, and to facilitate the construction of the Kade Lorry Park.
She appealed for uttermost support from the assembly members to ensure that the Kwaebibirem District gets its due in terms of development.
Mr Antwi-Boasiako Sekyere, the Eastern Regional Minister, reminded the assembly members that, it was only through unity and commitment between the assembly and the DCE that development could be attracted to the area.
He, therefore, called on them to put away petty squabbles and liaise with the DCE and the traditional authorities in implementing government’s development agenda for the benefit of the larger citizenry.
